ABOUT Annie Phun, B.A.
Program Coordinator, Project Uplift and Uplift PLUS
Annie Phun serves as the Program Coordinator for Project Uplift and Uplift PLUS, two summer college access programs designed for rising high school seniors, particularly those underrepresented in higher education. Prior to transitioning to CHEOP, Annie worked at the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion where she managed the BLDG series, the office’s monthly recurring personal and professional development series that provided workshops and events for all UNC students.
Before coming to UNC, Annie earned her BA in Classics from Princeton University. There, she worked for four years as a Community Ambassador at the Emma Bloomberg Center for Access & Opportunity (EBCAO) where she discovered her passion for college access work through creating programming primarily for first-generation, low-income (FLI) students. As a former FLI student herself, Annie believes that all students deserve support to, through, and beyond college and remains committed to a career that carries out that mission.
In her free time, Annie enjoys reading and writing. She loves storytelling in all mediums and spent most of her teenage years working for the LA Times and attending creative writing camps. She has two cats, Pluto and Ringtail.
